Denmark: Programme and Operations Coordinator

Danish Demining Group is looking for an experienced and talented Programme and Operations Coordinator (POC) to join the Copenhagen headquarter team.

About the role

DDG has programmes worldwide that are working to protect communities from the risks to life and limb posed by explosive remnants of war (such as landmines, unexploded bombs, shells, cluster munitions), and the proliferation of large numbers of small arms and light weapons. As POC, you will provide daily support to the managers of those programmes. The role is wide-ranging, and requires an understanding of the nature of the work and its standards. It also requires close cooperation and coordination with a range of support specialisations including finance, HR, logistics and DDGs technical specialists. It includes:

  • Assisting programme managers in the development of programmatic direction, goals and securing projects to achieve them
  • Contributing to the development of proposals and concept papers for donors, and providing input to ensure quality standards are met
  • Assisting in resource mobilisation and donor engagement at global level
  • Coordination of technical support required by programme managers
  • Programme monitoring, including facilitation of monitoring and quality assurance visits
  • Provision of oversight on programme and project achievement to the Head of DDG

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree at masters level or equivalent, preferably in a relevant area (social sciences, international relations, development, disaster management)
  • Extensive experience with humanitarian programme development, ideally with field experience from humanitarian mine action or armed violence reduction programme in a Non-Government Organisation
  • Structured and detailed approach to working, maintaining oversight of strategic intent and direction as well as attention to detail.
  • The ability to relate and connect, build rapport, and support programmes in extremely varied conditions and locations worldwide.
  • The ability to plan, coordinate, and lead processes involving multiple stakeholders and diverse interests.
  • Team spirit, adaptability, flexibility and the determination and humour needed to meet deadlines and deliver among a complex and changing set of priorities.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English. Good French, Spanish or Russian will be a significant advantage.
  • The ability to travel multiple times a year for durations of approximately two to three weeks.
